Master Jose Lugo
Since 1988, he has been practicing the art of Taekwondo and enjoys working with children and adults of all ages, providing a fun, nurturing, and teamwork-oriented environment in each of his classes. Mr. Lugo began his training in 1988 under the direction of 5-time World Kickboxing Champion, Victor Solier.
As an athlete, he has successfully represented WA State (1996-2005) at numerous US Open and national events. For nearly 20 years, Mr. Lugo has been training, competing, coaching and teaching Olympic-style Taekwondo - earning his 4th Dan certification through the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) in April, 2003.
Master Lugo's most recent athletic accomplishments:
- 2000 US Senior Nationals - Silver Medal
- 2001 US TKD Open - Gold Medal
- 2003 US Senior Nationals - Gold, Silver, & Bronze Medal (each in separate divisions)
- 2004 US Senior Nationals - Silver Medal
- 2005 US TKD Open - 2 Gold Medals
Teaching Experience
Since 1996, Master Lugo has offered Taekwondo programs in several venues including: The Bremerton Tennis and Athletic Club, Olympic College (Bremerton, WA), North Kitsap School District, the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico (Arecibo Campus).
In 2003, Master Lugo opened Westsound Taekwondo, and now it is the largest Olympic-style Taekwondo facility in North Kitsap.

- Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine)
- Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Counselor (AFAA), Kickboxing Instructor, and a Studio Cycling Specialist.
- USAT Level 1 Coach, USAT National Referee
- Vice President of the WA State TKD High Performance Association (2004-Present)
- Served as Secretary of the WA State USTU Association (2002 and 2003)
- Member of USA Taekwondo (USAT) - the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of Taekwondo in the U.S.
